HARARE: The English U-19 cricket team has secured their third consecutive win at the ICC U-19 World Cup by defeating Scotland with an easy 252 runs powerful win. The young English team showed their superiority in a rather unbalanced game and established a very strong position in the tournament.

Chasing 405 runs, Scotland were bowled out for 152 in 44. 5 overs. Finlay Carter (34) and Max Chaplin (22) made decent contributions for Scotland, while Theo Robinson and Jack Woodhouse made 19 and 18 runs respectively.

Scotland did a good job predicting the pitch conditions even before the match and decided to bowl first in the 17th group game of the tournament at Harare. England took the challenge and made a gigantic score of 404 runs, losing 6 wickets in 50 overs. Among the English batsmen, Ben Mess was the brightest, who made 191 and laid the foundation of the huge total.

Such a persuasive show makes the group’s performance of England even stronger as they look forward to the next stage of the tournament.

U-19 World Cup: South Africa set a new batting record against Tanzania

Earlier, the young players of South Africa U-19 at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 stunned the cricketing world with their amazing batting performance and made a new record in the tournament’s history.

The South African U-19 team against Tanzania scored a monumental 397 runs at the loss of five wickets in their 50 overs, which became not only the highest total of the ongoing edition but also the best batting performance by South Africa in the U-19 World Cup.

By this marvellous performance, South Africa not only became equitable but also broke the previous record of 359 runs for six wickets, which was against Namibia during the U19 World Cup 2012.

The South African batsmen right from the first ball played in an aggressive manner, thus making it impossible for the Tanzanian bowlers to find their rhythm. The inning was led by captain Mohamed Balbulia, who played a very composed and stylish inning of 108 runs while Jason Rowles remained not out at 125, thus taking the total to a new record-breaking level.

The very strong partnership that developed between the two was the main reason for South Africa to go past the previous limits. This was further accompanied by other batsmen, who also struck quick runs to the total, thus adding more and more to the score.

This performance was after the defeat that South Africa faced at the hands of Afghanistan in their very first game of the tournament. This loss had put the team under pressure early on and that was exactly what the players needed again. However, the next game against Tanzania not only uplifted their morale but also made them strong on the points table.

Cricket analysts think the great performance has made up the minds of other teams in the competition, South Africa U-19 being the team that can take the title.
