DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two police personnel martyred and four others injured when an improvised remote control device hit a police armoured vehicle in the Haithala area of DI Khan on Thursday.
Local sources said that the police party was on a routine search operation, when their vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled Improvised Explosive device(IED) on Gulti road Near Malang village. The blast resulted martyrdom of two police personnel, identified as driver Muhammad Ramadan and constable Saif-ur-Rehman. The injured in the explosion include Havaldar Shahid, Constable Mehboob Alam, Constable Asif, and Constable Kifayat.
Soon after the blast, rescue teams rushed to the site and contributed to the rescue activities. The injured were shifted to DI Khan Headquarter Hospital, while the martyred bodies were sent to their respective areas. Since 2023, the area has been gripped by terrorism and lawlessness after the end of the ceasefire with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The Khwarij elements have intensified their attacks on the Police and security forces, and in the last few years, more than 800 personnel have been martyred in this war against terrorism. The local community has expressed severe concern over the increasing incidents of terrorism in the area and has vowed full support to the security forces.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has strongly condemned the bomb blast on a police vehicle in DI Khan and directed the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit a detailed report on the incident. He said that this incident is extremely regrettable and condemnable. The elements involved will be brought to justice. He added that such cowardly attacks cannot dampen our morale; the war against terrorism will continue with even stronger resolve. He said that the sacrifices of martyred police personnel will not go in vain.
The Chief Minister said that all resources will be utilized to establish peace and completely eradicate terrorism. He said that the provincial government stands with the police and law enforcement agencies to establish peace.
