CHITRAL: At least two people were killed and four others seriously injured when a jeep plunged into a deep ravine at Shogran Zoom in Chitral, on Thursday. Rescue 1122 said.
According to police and rescue sources, the vehicle lost control while travelling through the mountainous area and fell into the ravine. The deceased and injured belong to the same family.
Rescue teams and residents rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Lower Chitral, where they are receiving medical treatment. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical.
The district administration of Lower Chitral has imposed a complete ban on the entry of new rickshaws in the district to address rising traffic congestion, public nuisance, and law and order concerns.
The decision was made during a District Coordination Committee meeting held on December 18, 2025, following orders from the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Lower Chitral.
Under the provisions of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the entry of all types of rickshaws is prohibited within the district limits. The order has come into immediate effect and will remain in force for a period of two months.
Authorities have warned that any violation of the ban will lead to legal action under Section 188 CrPC against those responsible. The district administration has urged the public to cooperate fully with the authorities and adhere to the new regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain public safety.
