BANNU: Security Forces, Bannu police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted several joint operations, killing 17 militants, including two commanders in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts on Friday night.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Sajjad Khan reported to the media that during various engagements on Friday evening and night, two militant commanders were among 17 terrorists eliminated in the Bannu and Lakki Marwat
The Regional Police Officer (RPO) reported that, in joint operations with security forces, local police, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), conducted intelligence-based operations in various areas of the Bannu region. A total of 17 terrorists, including 3 key commanders, were killed, and several others were injured.
In these operations, a young man sustained minor injuries, while all police and security personnel remained safe. The local community provided full cooperation, contributing to the success of the operations.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the deceased terrorists. The operation targeted the local command of the Fitna al-Khawarij, resulting in the death of several important commanders. During police and CTD operations in the Sherikhel and Pakka Pahar Khel areas, 10 foreign terrorists were killed, 5 were injured, and 1 facilitator was apprehended.
Seven bodies of terrorists were recovered, while 3 could not be retrieved due to their location in a difficult mountainous area. Among the deceased was a notorious Fitna al-Khawarij commander, Niaz Ali, alias Akasha, and Abdullah, alias Shipunkoi, both of whom were highly wanted by law enforcement.
A joint operation conducted by the Lucky Police, CTD, and the Aman Committee in the Nasr Khel area resulted in the death of one wanted terrorist. Locals expressed their trust in their guardians and took up arms against the insurgency.
Police and Aman Committees engaged in clashes with terrorists in the Hoveed area of Bannu, who fled in panic, illustrating the joint success of law enforcement and public cooperation.
Fitna al-Khawarij opened fire on a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) in the Domail area, where police personnel bravely fought back. Upon receiving information about the incident, Bannu police, CTD, and security forces assisted each other, leading to the death of 6 Khawarij and dozens of injuries in an 8-hour-long operation.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, congratulated the Bannu Region Police, CTD, and security forces for their effective strikes against terrorists.
“We will cleanse the soil of the Bannu Region from sedition, pursuing terrorists to their secret hideouts,” stated DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan. He assured that operations would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated to safeguard the lives and property of the public.
