WASHINGTON: Following the death of Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, US President Donald Trump made a statement asserting that the US was “ahead of schedule” with its actions.

During his address, Trump stated that the strike against Iran was the right decision, claiming that if the US had not carried out the strike, Iran would have already had nuclear weapons by now. He further stated that the US had successfully destroyed Iran’s air force and navy, stating that they were “well ahead of schedule” with their operations.

Ali Larijani, a prominent individual in Iran’s security system, was killed during a strike that Iranian authorities have confirmed was carried out by the US and Israeli forces. Iranian media sources have further reported that Larijani’s son, Morteza, was killed during the strike.

According to Iranian media, Ali Larijani was targeted while visiting his daughter in the eastern part of Tehran.

Iran confirms martyrdom of Basij Commander Gholam Reza Soleimani

Earlier, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officially confirmed the martyrdom of Gholam Reza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij Force.

In a statement released by the IRGC, the officials promised that the martyrdom of Soleimani and the other martyrs would be avenged, and they would not back down in their struggle for justice. In the statement, the officials warned the “terrorist murderers” that the martyrdom of the slain leaders and commanders would be avenged.

The IRGC pledged its commitment to continue its resistance with even greater determination and added that the martyrdom of Soleimani, as well as other martyrs, would only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people and all the Basij Force personnel to stand by their duty.

In an interview with the Arab TV network, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, claimed that the martyrdom of individual leaders will not affect the regime. “The system is built on institutions,” claimed the Iranian Foreign Minister. “Even in the case of the death of the Supreme Leader and other important figures, the system will not be affected.”

The confirmation of Soleimani’s death has heightened the tensions between Iran and Israel.
