The United States President Donald Trump has praised the performance of the American military and confirmed that talks regarding a potential Iran nuclear deal are ongoing.
Speaking to the media, Trump said, Our military did a great job. Iran wants a deal, and we are in discussions with them. Negotiations are underway, and they will produce results.
Trump emphasized that, had he not been elected president, the United States would have faced serious security threats, and he highlighted his administration’s efforts to remove criminals and killers from the country.
He said past US administrations had allowed some of the world’s most dangerous individuals into the country and stressed that the United States will not tolerate criminal activity on its soil.
Referring to Iran, Trump said that even after the Midnight Hammer operation, Iran continued to develop its nuclear capabilities.
He warned that if Iran had possessed a nuclear bomb, it could have targeted Israel. The president also cited Iran’s missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, asserting that the country will no longer be able to construct naval warships.
Our actions are eliminating the threat posed by the Iranian regime, Trump added. For 47 years, Iran has harassed countries across the Middle East. Today, the region is closer than ever to a Middle East free from Iranian threats.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking after meetings with G7 foreign ministers in France, said that US objectives in Iran could be achieved without deploying ground troops.
He projected that any conflict in Iran could conclude within weeks rather than months, but noted that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open could remain an immediate challenge, even while pursuing military goals.
