WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump imposed new sanctions on two large Russian oil companies. Sitting alongside NATO Secretary General, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he was hopeful the new sanctions would cause the Russian President to rethink his stance in the conflict and pursue a more peaceful path.
US President highlighted the significance of the day by saying, “This is a big day.” He went on to say that the oil sanctions were the strongest American signal of what was coming next. Stating that the war in Ukraine was the “first thing” he was doing, Trump said it was actually under his presidency that “he would end the war.”.
While talking to the media, US President Trump also denied any allegations of the US secretly supplying missiles to Ukraine and explained that it was Europe who were supplying the missiles. He blamed the war for the people who are dying, or surviving, in Ukraine, and warned that thousands of innocent lives will continue to be lost every week.
Trump also spoke about his planned diplomatic visit and made it clear that he and Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping have agreed to meet when he attends the meetings in China and South Korea. He said that he hopes his actions, including the sanctioning of key leaders of Putin’s government, would contribute to undermining the Russian leader’s stance in the matter.
Trump humiliated Biden further by labeling him “the worst president in the history of America” and said that America can never invest hardworking taxpayers’ money in illegal immigrants. Conversely, Trump said that America is not going to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine even if the Biden administration is there to take the blame for it.
Additionally, Trump pointed out that India has opted not to buy Russian oil and this would be a great setback for Moscow, in line with increasing international isolation.
Furthermore, he spoke about the great condition of the US economy and stated that the “shutdown” must be off the table for the United States.

Meanwhile, at the same news conference, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, commented that the impositions were created with the idea of getting Putin to the negotiating table and to make a ceasefire agreement. He even went as far as to say that Moscow is not ready to talk peace with Kyiv right now.
