WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that there are no plans to replace the United Nations with the Gaza Peace Board and stated the UN must continue its involvement in global diplomacy.
Trump, while speaking at a press conference marking his first anniversary, said that the establishment of the NATO military alliance was one of the major achievements of his leadership, adding that no one has contributed to NATO as he did. He also hinted at a resolution regarding Greenland that would be advantageous for both NATO and the U.S.
In relation to his foreign policy, Trump spoke positively of his relationships with the UK and French leaders, pointing out that there is good cooperation among the ruling powers. Nevertheless, he declared not to participate in the forthcoming G7 meeting in Paris.
Trump was open about his disinterest in meeting former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in prison. In addition, he informed that the U.S. had already procured 50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela.
Trump, in response to questions about the situation between Pakistan and India, declared that the number of aircraft downed in the skirmish was eight and also said that the Indian Premier had told him that his engagement was the reason for saving so many lives. He further stated that if the armed conflict had not been stopped, the number of casualties would have been in the millions with possible figures ranging from 10 to 20 million.
Trump ended his speech by claiming credit for averting eight wars, asserting the genuineness of his efforts not being for the Nobel Peace Prize, and reaffirming that he is still trying to put an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump vows to fully implement tariff plan against Europe
US President Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to imposing tariffs on European countries, saying he will implement the plan “100 percent” despite any external pressure.
According to a foreign news agency, President Trump said in a statement that Norway has complete control over the Nobel Peace Prize, regardless of any claims or opinions expressed otherwise.
President Trump, while criticizing European countries, claimed that the Russia-Ukraine issue should be the main concern for Europe, instead of the Greenland matter, and justified it by saying that the war is a much larger threat to the peace of the region and the world.
The US leader also took a firm position on the trade policy and said he was going to put tariffs on European countries no matter what, and he was not going to give in to anyone regarding that decision.
