Trump rejects Khamenei’s son as Iran’s future leader, calls for US role
Earlier, US President Donald Trump has stated that he should be personally involved in the selection of Iran’s next Supreme Leader. In an interview with a US website, Trump emphasized that if Iran attempts to choose a new leader without US participation, it would be a waste of time.
President Trump specifically rejected the potential appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the current Supreme Leader, as the next leader of Iran. He believes that Iran requires a powerful leader because he sees Mojtaba Khamenei as an ineffective leader.
Trump refused to accept any choice that would permit the next leader to implement the former leader.
Trump issued a warning that the United States would enter another conflict with Iran within five years if that decision were implemented. Trump compared his role in selecting Iran’s leader to his previous involvement in Venezuelan political affairs.
