PESHAWAR: The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) informed that they have closed various highways in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab because the fog has become so thick that it is almost impossible to see anything, and visibility is at a critical low level now.

The affected routes are:

M-1: Peshawar to Rashakai

M-2: Thokar Niaz Beg to Chakri

M-3: Faizpur to Darkhana

M-4: Pindi Bhattian to Sher Shah

M-5: Sher Shah to Rohri

M-11: Lahore to Sumbrial

M-14: Injra to Isa Khel

It has become very dangerous to drive on these paths because the visibility is practically zero. The motorway policemen have asked all the drivers to avoid traveling unnecessarily and also to check the road conditions before going out.

The NHMP is giving a guarantee to the travellers saying the road will be reopened as soon as the visibility turns good and other conditions are right for travel.

On the other hand, drivers should exercise utmost caution, turn on their car lights and use fog lamps, and maintain a considerable distance from other vehicles while driving in heavy fog.

The heavy fog is already holding up the traffic, causing big jams and many vehicles being immobilized on the affected roads. The traffic flow in the regions is being managed by them and their target is to clear all the routes as fast as possible.

Motorists are recommended to keep an eye on the official statements at all times and to follow the safety measures in order to prevent accidents and have safe travel.
