CHARSADDA: Two friends were killed while a passerby sustained critical injuries when unknown motorcyclists opened fire at them within the limits of Thana Prang in Charsadda district on Friday night.
According to initial reports, the unknown assailants, riding a motorcycle, targeted the victims and fled the scene after the attack. The deceased were identified as Ahmed, son of Alamzeb, and Hasnain, son of Tariq, residents of the Bhosakhel area. Both men died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
A passerby, Sajjad, son of Noshirwan, was also hit by bullets during the firing and was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Charsadda in critical condition.
Police officials said the bodies of the deceased were also shifted to DHQ Hospital for medico-legal formalities. A case has been registered against an unknown accused, and investigations are underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation in the area and are reviewing possible leads, including personal enmity and other motives. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report.
Residents of the area expressed concern over the incident and demanded improved security measures to curb such incidents of violence.
