LOWER KOHISTAN: Three persons from Gilgit-Baltistan were killed on the spot when their car met with a fatal accident near the Kero check post on Friday, Rescue officials said.

According to the Rescue 1122 control room, the vehicle was travelling along the Karakoram Highway when the driver lost control, resulting in the deadly crash. Rescue teams, supported by local volunteers, reached the site and recovered the bodies from the wreckage.

The deceased has been identified as: Ashfaq Ahmed, son of Farhan, a resident of Ghizar; Abdul Hasib, son of Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Chilas and Umair, son of Noor Muhammad, also from Chilas.

Following the recovery operation, the body of Ashfaq Ahmed was shifted to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Dasu, Upper Kohistan. The remains of the other two victims were transported to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Pattan.

Police have registered the incident, and the bodies will be handed over to the bereaved families following the completion of legal formalities. Fatal road accidents are frequent in the region, often attributed to the difficult terrain and narrow stretches of the highway.
