RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, on Wednesday presided over the 273rd Corps Commanders Conference, which reviewed the country’s internal and external security situation amid evolving challenges.

The forum offered Fateha for the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians who lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents, and paid tribute to their sacrifices in defending the motherland against terrorism sponsored by hostile foreign elements.

The Army Chief commended the unwavering courage, professionalism and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and appreciated their intelligence-led counter-terrorism operations conducted across the country in recent months.

“With the joint efforts of the government and the Pakistan Army, and the steadfast support of the people, Pakistan is gradually but surely moving towards stability, greater opportunities and dignity,” the field marshal said.

Participants comprehensively reviewed the prevailing security environment and stressed the need for sustained operational preparedness. The conference reiterated that all terrorists, their facilitators and abettors operating under Indian auspices would be dealt with decisively, without compromise. It also categorically rejected any nexus between terrorism, crime and political interests.

The forum emphasised that no individual or group would be permitted to undermine national unity, security, and stability, or create divisions between the armed forces and the people.

The participants appreciated the Balochistan government’s special development initiatives aimed at empowering local communities and addressing governance-related factors linked to terrorism. They stressed the need for similar public initiatives in other regions under the National Action Plan to ensure lasting peace.

The conference reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and reiterated the country’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian access and a credible pathway to a Palestinian state.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Army Chief directed commanders to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness, discipline, training, physical fitness, innovation and professionalism. He expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s ability to effectively counter conventional, sub-conventional, hybrid and asymmetric threats while safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
