PESHAWAR: The inhabitants of Tirah Valley have consented to move, on the condition that the government offers a written guarantee addressing 27 crucial demands. The residents have pledged to back the government’s peace and counter-terrorism efforts provided their issues are addressed.
The guarantees requested by the community encompass commitments from senior government figures, such, as the Chief Justice, Minister of Interior Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Commander of 27 Brigade who will serve as guarantors for the pact.
Primary requests entail assurance that inhabitants can move back to their residences within a two-month period with every household getting a reimbursement of 700,000 rupees. The return procedure is anticipated to be aided with travel arrangements and necessary provisions. The community has demanded that no inspections or seizures of their possessions occur during the move.
Moreover, the residents have demanded that vehicles registered at the National Registration Centres (NCP) be permitted to be moved to Peshawar along with compensation for land taken over by the government. When houses are entirely demolished in actions, the inhabitants expect 8 million rupees as compensation whereas homes with partial damage would qualify for 4 million rupees.
Further requests involve the resumption of programs the founding of a cadet college and setting up girls’ schools in every tribal locality. The local population has also urged the reopening of hospitals, the development of connecting roads and the erection of facilities along the base of the mountains. Moreover, they desire the Tirah area to be recognized as an electoral district.
The community has called for the reinstatement of utilities, including water, electricity and gas along with reparations for local enterprises impacted by the continuing conflict. They also insist on a financial aid program, interest-free credits and restitution, for residences destroyed since 2014.
Once the government and designated officials provide the required guarantees, the residents have agreed to return under the peace agreement, marking a hopeful step towards stability and rebuilding in the region.
