PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department has forecasted the arrival of a new wave of westerly winds across various parts of the country, which may lead to rain and thunderstorms on February 16 and 17.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Waziristan, Bannu, DI Khan, and Kurram, during the nights of February 16 and 17. The report also indicates a significant possibility of a hailstorm in DI Khan and its surrounding areas at this time.

Meteorologists have stated that this weather event could result in intermittent rain and thunderstorms across most districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Kalat, Gwadar, and Lasbela, from the evening of February 16 to February 17. Northern Balochistan may also experience hailstorms.

In Sindh, forecasts suggest that on February 17, cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Sukkur, and Larkana could see thundershowers and strong winds.

Light rain or drizzle, along with dusty winds, is anticipated in the southern regions of Punjab on February 17, affecting areas such as DG Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Bahawalpur. DG Khan is also at risk of experiencing hail.

The Meteorological Department has urged all relevant agencies to remain vigilant and advised farmers to take timely precautions for their crops in light of the expected weather conditions.
