ISLAMABAD: Anxiety is becoming more common in today’s world, and the general remedy for anxiety includes therapy or medication. A person suffering from anxiety faces mental as well as physical challenges. However, the good news is that the prevention of anxiety can be as easy as improving the quality of your sleep.
A medical study conducted in the United States found this conclusion. The University of California study investigated how sleep quality affects brain shrinkage and anxiety levels throughout a person’s life. Researchers studied how people develop emotional stability and sleep patterns from their youth to their older years. The study included 61 healthy individuals over the age of 65, all of whom experienced some level of anxiety in their daily lives.
The researchers used sleep scanning methods to track brain activity while they investigated how sleep quality affected anxiety. The results proved that quality sleep functions as a key element that reduces anxiety. The study indicated that proper sleep patterns function as an effective method to prevent anxiety disorders throughout all stages of life.
The study demonstrated that brain development undergoes specific changes throughout the aging process yet people can maintain emotional stability through proper sleep hygiene practices, which decrease their risk of anxiety. These findings were published in the Communications Psychology Journal.
