ISLAMABAD: An internal story has come to light from the recent meeting of the parliamentary party of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), where there was a sharp exchange of words between Shahid Khattak and Senator Zarqa.
According to sources, during the meeting, there was a sharp exchange of words between Shahid Khattak and Senator Zarqa, where Shahid Khattak asked Senator Zarqa, “Why are you sitting here if you have taken money?” This led to a sharp exchange of words between both of them.
The matter further took a dramatic turn when Barrister Ali Zafar expressed his frustration He reportedly said, “If our members are disrespected like this, I will boycott the meeting.”
Other party members, including National Assembly members and Senators, also voiced their displeasure with Shahid Khattak’s comments, claiming he had crossed the line. Senator Zarqa defended herself, stating, “I was given a notice, responded to it, and if there were any concerns, I would have been expelled from the party.”
Barrister Gohar Ali added, “On one side, there’s the war with Iran, and on the other, we’re fighting our own battles.”
Junaid Akbar, another party member, raised concerns about the influence of a small group of youth panel members who he claimed were controlling the party’s decision-making. He said, “A few individuals are making decisions for the whole party, and no one is consulted. We know where the key decisions are coming from.”
He also criticized the management of the committee, stating that there were individuals who used the founder of PTI as a means to an end.
At the end of the meeting, Barrister Gohar Ali assured all party members that there was no need to be concerned about the tensions or disagreements. He said, “Everyone here is a colleague, and such discussions take place from time to time; there is no serious concern.”
Regarding the health concerns about the founder of PTI, Barrister Gohar Ali has confirmed that 100 party members had expressed their concern. He mentioned that a resolution regarding the health of PTI’s founder would be introduced in the National Assembly, and they would also discuss their previously prepared resolution on the Iran situation.
