The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a large-scale operation to make the tax system effective in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and document financial activities.
In this regard, notices for registration and digital monitoring in the tax system are being issued to more than 100,000 individuals and institutions affiliated with various departments across the province, including Peshawar.
According to sources, the FBR has made it mandatory for the relevant businessmen to connect to the online system and install point of sales machines.
The aim of this initiative is to monitor business transactions, prevent tax evasion and increase revenue. The sectors to be included in the tax net include private hospitals, clinics, dentists, veterinary doctors, plastic surgeons, medical laboratories, X-ray, CT scan and MRI centers, in addition to beauty parlors, massage centers, Instructions have also been given to include guest houses, hotels, wedding halls, clubs, swimming pools, wholesalers, retailers, intercity transport, courier services, foreign exchange dealers and people involved in photo and video distribution in the system.
While bringing the education sector under this purview, educational institutions, training centers and universities, even those charging low fees, have been made mandatory for registration.
Similarly, the financial activities of medical and other professionals providing services above a certain fee will also be monitored regularly.
