KABUL: Hamdullah Fitrat, Spokesman of the Taliban interim government of Afghanistan reaffirmed its resolve for regional peace, reassuring neighboring countries that Afghan soil will not be used against any country.
The declaration was made as a reaction to a collective statement made following a foreign ministers’ conference among Pakistan, China, Iran, and Russia, underlining regional security and opposition to foreign military bases in Afghanistan.
Welcoming the collective stance of the four nations, especially their rejection of foreign military bases on Afghan territory, was Afghan government spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat.
We welcome the views expressed by Pakistan, China, Iran, and Russia on the sovereignty of Afghanistan,” Fitrat said.
He vehemently rejected claims that armed forces are present in Afghanistan with a view to destabilizing other nations.
“No armed organization has been given permission to work in Afghanistan. The assertion that Afghan land can threaten other nations is not justified,” the spokesperson further added.
Fitrat stressed that the Taliban regime is implementing serious actions against corruption, drugs, and all types of unwanted activities, noting Afghanistan’s pursuit of peaceful, respectful relations with all countries.
“Our foreign policy is based on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation,” he said.

Political experts consider the increased regional powers’ support for Afghan stability to be an opportunity of strategic interest for Kabul in building its political and economic relationships. By engaging its neighbours’ concerns through diplomacy and openness, the Taliban could further develop more regional confidence and co-operation.
