ISLAMABAD: Talal Chaudhry, the Minister of State for Interior, claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government was ineffective in dealing with the terrorism effectively.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry claimed that the federal government had, under the directives of the Prime Minister, provided the KP police with modern and high-end vehicles to enhance the province’s counter-terrorism capabilities. He also said that the police, the Interior Minister, and top security officials were equipped with such vehicles even though there are budgetary limitations.

“The KP government should have given such vehicles from its own funds,” he remarked. “The appointment of a minor as Chief Minister is an indication of how serious they are about governance. The fight against terrorism is a fight for all Pakistan, not just a single province.”

Minister added that a mere change in the Chief Minister would not alter the nation’s resolve against the elimination of terrorism and stated that the war would be fought under the National Action Plan.

Chaudhry also condemned what he termed the incapacity of the KP government to provide public services, remarking that many KP residents turn to Islamabad for healthcare because there are no adequate hospitals in the province. “Islamabad’s hospitals have half the patients from KP. People from KP do not feel secure in their provincial area,” he said.

He claimed that although KP was provided with an extra Rs 600 billion, it could not carry out any security or development projects.

He further claimed that 69 luxury watches and suspicious financial transactions worth millions of rupees had been discovered in 100 accounts linked to individuals in the province, adding that details of these transactions would soon be made public.
