COLOMBO: Ehsan Adil has become the second cricketer in history to play international matches both for Pakistan and against Pakistan.

During the ICC T20 World Cup, a new player was included by the United States lineup as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh, who was ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder injury. Thus, Ehsan Adil was included, and henceforth, the United States team featuring Ehsan Adil faced Pakistan during the T20 World Cup.

With this appearance, Ehsan Adil has become a member of a rather exclusive group of cricketers who have represented Pakistan and gone on to feature in international cricket matches against Pakistan.

The 32-year-old fast bowler was born in Gujra, a region of Punjab. He made his Test debut for Pakistan in 2013, bowling against South Africa, where he took five wickets in three Test matches.

Ehsan Adil was awarded his One Day International cap in 2013 against Scotland. He has played six One-Day International matches, taking four wickets. He was also part of the Pakistani squad in the 2015 World Cup, where he played his last match against Australia in the quarter-final.

Later, Ehsan Adil moved to the United States. He was awarded his USA cap before the match against Pakistan.

Previously, former Test cricketer Gul Mohammad had achieved a similar feat. In 1952–53, he represented India and played two Test matches against Pakistan. He later moved to Pakistan and played one Test match for Pakistan against Australia.
