ISLAMABAD: In the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, a match of tension, rivalry, and passion is a head-on fight of the two cricket giants, and it is next to be staged on 8th February 2026 in Colombo, as per news.
T20 World Cup, the details say, is to be out from the 7th of February to the 8th of March, 2026, and the overlords of cricket viz. India and Sri Lanka have been given the pleasure of jointly hosting this festive event. The games opening their doors to the fans will be in at least five cities in India and two spots in the Garden of Eden, Sri Lanka.
It is said that the face-off between Pakistan against India could be held in either Ahmedabad or Colombo with the decisive board coming under a “Hybrid Model” to ascertain the venue depending on whether Pakistan will be qualifying for the final stages of the tournament or not.
There will be 20 teams that will vie for the 2026 equivalent of the Cricket World Cup, according to the ICC. Besides the two co-host nations, India and Sri Lanka, the top seven teams from the T20 World Cup starting in 2024 are to be qualified directly so that Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies are on the list of the ones that have made it without pre-qualifications.
Based on their rankings, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Ireland have been given direct entry. Besides that, Canada has made it through the regional qualifiers from the USA region, and Netherlands and Italy have earned their places from Europe, with Italy being a newcomer for the T20 World Cup.

The two African teams that have made it to the tournament are Namibia and Zimbabwe while Nepal, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the Asian teams that will be participating.
The competition format of the World Cup 20 will be the same as the last one and will have 20 teams split into groups of five. The teams from the four groups of five will be led by the two best sides and will thus be qualified to the Super Eight, from where the semifinal and the final matches will be played.
