MINGORA: Swat Police arrested three transgender persons in the area of Swat following a shooting incident during an anti-indecency patrol. The patrol was a part of a program to address public complaints about an increasing number of obscene acts in the area.
As per the police, the incident happened in Wateka village, Shahdara, where the officers and local elders were patrolling in the dead of night responding to loud public complaints of the locality’s indecency.
When the police team and community elders were passing by a building of the transgender community, the residents of the building fired at the police team and community elders. The firing created a scare that spread through the whole area as people rushed to ensure their safety by going to places where they felt secure.
The police team headed by Additional SP Lower Swat Ghulam Sadiq, reacted to the trouble and took steps immediately. A well-planned operation followed, and in a very short time, three transgender suspects were arrested.
During the operation, the police were able to recover a pistol among other firearms that were in the possession of the arrested individuals. Asif alias Bulbul, Imran alias Pail, and Arman are the names of the persons who have been arrested, and declared as the primary suspects.
