SWABI: As many as 5,824 patients were treated in various MTI hospitals across Swabi district during the Eid ul-Fitr holidays. During this period, 178 babies were born across the district’s hospitals.
According to reports from the district’s three teaching hospitals medical teams worked tirelessly during the holidays to provide healthcare services to residents. Medical facilities received 215 road accident victims who required emergency medical treatment in addition to the births. Medical personnel completed 200 surgical procedures which included both minor and major medical operations, during the holiday period.
The report documented multiple additional events that occurred during Eid celebrations. Seven individuals were treated for injuries sustained in fights and shootings. Dog bite incidents totalled 164 cases including victims who received necessary vaccinations. Medical professionals performed 4872 tests while 132 patients received complementary dialysis treatment.
The Eid holidays witnessed the completion of 110 CT scans 695 X-rays 290 ECGs, and more than 40 ultrasounds.260 patients required immediate medical treatment and hospitals admitted them for urgent care.
Doctors and hospital staff maintained their medical operations which provided necessary treatment to patients during the holiday period.
40 dead, thousands injured in 484 accidents across KP during Eid
Meanwhile, the festive occasion of Eid ul-Fitr was transformed into a harsh reality in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a total of 484 accidents were recorded in just three days, causing the loss of 40 lives with thousands injured.
The festive period in the province experienced multiple deadly incidents, according to a report from Rescue 1122. The incidents included 484 traffic accidents and 1,261 medical emergencies, 62 fire outbreaks, 33 altercations and 5 drowning incidents and 50 other emergencies.
Rescue 1122 personnel provided medical assistance to 1,993 people including women, children and elderly individuals. The majority of these incidents occurred on roads and at public events which created a holiday emergency service burden for emergency services.
The Director-General of Rescue 1122 announced that the Eid period required extra emergency planning because staff members would stay on duty for emergency situations that needed a fast response. The holiday period experienced a disturbing number of fatal accidents and health emergencies despite all the safety measures that were put in place.
The officials requested that people should take safety measures and adhere to safety protocols to stop similar incidents from happening on the upcoming public holidays.
