‎‎ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court’s decision to order Imran Khan’s medical checkup at Shifa International Hospital has effectively ended the justification for PTI’s planned protest, political observers said.

‎The court on Monday directed that the PTI founder be shifted to Shifa International for medical examination until the next hearing.

‎Analysts noted the timing of the order is significant as figures including Sohail Afridi and others associated with what the statement called “fitna and violence” were mobilizing supporters for a violent long march toward Islamabad on 27 September. They had been using Khan’s health as a rallying point in recent days.

‎“Today the court has buried the very reason behind that protest. Now who will come out for them,” the statement said, adding that the timely Supreme Court decision has let the air out of PTI’s protest balloon.

‎The court also ordered the formation of a medical board and directed that the transfer be carried out under strict security.

‎PTI has not yet issued an official response to the court’s order.
