An important meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is being held in the federal capital today to sight the Eid-ul-Fitr moon across the country.

The meeting will be chaired by the chairman of the committee, in which the final announcement of the sighting of the Eid-ul-Fitr moon will be made after reviewing the evidence received.

On the other hand, both Suparco and the Meteorological Department have predicted that the chances of the moon being seen in any part of the country today are extremely low and there is a strong possibility that Ramadan will consist of 30 days and Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

According to Suparco’s Divisional Head Astrophysics Ghulam Mustafa Leghari, the birth of the new moon has taken place today at 6:23 am on March 19, but the age of the moon at sunset will be only 12 hours and 41 minutes.

According to astronomical principles, the interval between the age of the moon and the sunset and moonrise required for the human eye to see it is quite short. In the coastal areas of Pakistan, this interval is expected to be only 28 minutes, while at least 40 minutes are required for sighting.

It should be noted that the final decision will be made after the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which is eagerly awaited by the people of the country.
