PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will induct dissident PTI members in his cabinet as the oath-taking ceremony is due today at the Governor’s House.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will take oath at the Governor’s House, Peshawar, at 4 pm today. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi cut short his official visit to Sindh and reached Peshawar late at night to review the preparations for the oath-taking ceremony.
The Peshawar High Court had ordered the governor to take the oath by 4 pm today, and if the governor was not available, the responsibility would have been entrusted to the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly. However, the governor has assured to perform his constitutional duties and said that he has reached Peshawar to administer the oath to Sohail Afridi. It has been decided to induct new members into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, in which disgruntled members will also be given a chance. Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Shakeel Khan are likely to get ministries, while Faisal Tarakai and Aqibullah will also be part of the new cabinet. However, Qasim Ali Shah, Zahir Shah Toro, and Ehtesham Ali will not be given the ministry.
According to party sources, Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam will remain part of Sohail Afridi’s team in the new cabinet, while former ministers Faisal Tarakai and Aqibullah are likely to be included in the cabinet again. Apart from this, Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Shakeel Khan are also expected to be given the ministry. On the other hand, it has been decided not to include Qasim Ali Shah, Zahir Shah Toro, and Ehtesham Ali in the new cabinet. Party sources said that disgruntled members will also be given a chance in the cabinet, and new faces will also be included to stabilize the government. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, while talking to the media, said that he will perform constitutional duties with full honesty and stressed keeping political matters within the ambit of the constitution. He refrained from disclosing details about his talks with Bilawal Bhutto.
