ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muhammad Sohail Afridi has made serious allegations regarding the treatment of former prime minister Imran Khan, claiming that certain actions were carried out under the patronage of the Punjab government.

Speaking on the matter outside the Supreme Court on Thursday, Afridi said that Salman Akram Raja and Aleema Khan had informed him that Abdul Ghafoor Anjum carried out the actions with the backing of the Punjab government.

He alleged that Imran Khan was subjected to severe torture and that even when he was taken to the hospital, his family was not informed.

He further expressed concern over what he termed a “fake government medical report,” calling it worrying. Afridi claimed that such treatment was meted out to “the biggest political leader” under the patronage of what he described as the “fake government of Punjab.”

According to Mr Afridi, there are ulterior motives behind these actions, alleging that political opponents are unable to compete with Imran Khan’s popularity.

KP CM referred to past incidents, including Model Town and Muridke, claiming that those responsible have now “become thirsty for Khan’s blood.”

The chief minister urged the Islamabad High Court to take up Khan’s cases and ensure justice. He remarked that if courts fail to provide justice, they should be held accountable.

Afridi stated that Imran Khan was not involved in incidents such as Dawn Leaks or Memogate, nor did he raise controversial slogans or display journalists’ pictures at rallies.

Commenting on the country’s security situation, he pointed out that three major terrorist attacks recently occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one incident took place in Islamabad, resulting in several deaths and injuries.

He criticised the handling of the overall national situation, stating that the entire system is attempting to suppress a public servant.

He also raised concerns about the country’s economic condition, saying debts are rising and exports are declining. He warned that if friendly countries withdraw financial support, the dollar could exceed Rs400.

Afridi claimed that even the PTI leadership may not be able to restrain party workers any longer.

He cautioned that if people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa decide to block roads, his administration would not be able to confront them. He added that if citizens exercise their constitutional and legal rights, no one would be able to stop them.

Concluding his remarks, he assured the nation that Imran Khan’s health is “completely fine” at present.
