PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, on Friday, announced his government’s policy framework and major expected rules.
The provincial cabinet meeting was chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. During this meeting, the Chief Minister outlined the policy guidelines of his government. He expressed gratitude to all political parties that participated in the peace jirga yesterday, emphasising that while political differences exist, the common goal remains peace.
All resolutions passed by the provincial assembly will be fully implemented. A significant resolution concerns the abolition of the ‘Action in Aid of Civil Powers’ law, which contradicts basic human rights. The Chief Minister also announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan. This commission will gather all evidence, including CCTV footage, and will present its report to the cabinet.
The establishment of a usury-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is among the current government’s top priorities. A policy is being developed to eliminate the scourge of usury and to introduce Islamic investment options.
The provincial assembly has unanimously passed a resolution stating that founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are being mistreated while in custody. The elected Chief Minister of 45 million people is not being permitted to meet his founding chairman. I wish to meet Imran Khan to discuss policy guidelines.
Additionally, the founding chairman and his wife are not even allowed to see their personal doctor. All government initiatives and reforms will be undertaken in consultation with elected representatives.
In accordance with the vision of founding chairman Imran Khan, the party will adhere strictly to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. No one will be permitted to use government funds for personal advertising. Cabinet members are expected to make all decisions based on merit and complete transparency.
All laws must serve the public interest. If any law is found to be against the public interest, it should be repealed. A review of all laws will be conducted to identify shortcomings, and necessary amendments will be proposed.
