KALAM: To avoid overly heavy snow covering at the top of tourist areas in Swat, the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) has been applying measures intended to protect the travellers’ safety. Due to icy roads, which have made traffic accidents much more likely, the USDA has cautioned tourists to be very careful.
The USDA spokesperson said that more than 300 vehicles of all sizes were not allowed to go to the mountaintops, which include the famous valleys of Pologah and Mahodand. Most of the travellers in these vehicles were women and children, and they were all brought back safely by Swat Tourism Police so that no accident could occur.
The spokesperson stated that there really were very serious risks if anyone went through the snowy areas without the necessary snow chains. “Traveling in such conditions without snow chains can be deadly,” the representative said. “So, we are rigorously implementing safety measures to avoid any accidents.”
The USDA has advised tourists to pay attention to the warning from the District Administration and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department, which includes the mandatory use of snow chains. Tourists are also being recommended to not take unnecessary risks in order to have a safe and fun time in Swat’s beautiful mountains.
The authorities are still making safety for both locals and tourists their number one priority, and they are reminding everyone to keep an eye on the conditions and be prepared for the coming bad weather.
