KALAM: A massive surge of nature lovers has been witnessed in the scenic valley of Kalam and other snow-bound areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday as fresh snowfall transformed the area into a winter spectacle, attracting a large number of visitors from different parts of the country.
According to locals, as soon as snowfall began, tourists rushed to the Swat valley to enjoy the snow-covered mountains and scenic landscapes, turning Kalam into a popular destination once again. Hotels, guesthouses and roadside resorts reported spike bookings, while local markets witnessed a noticeable rise in activity.
Visitors were seen taking photographs, playing in the snow and enjoying the cold weather, with many terming the snowfall a memorable experience. The sudden influx of tourists also led to increased traffic on roads leading to Kalam, prompting authorities to advise travellers to exercise caution.
Residents and business owners welcomed the rise in tourist footfall, saying that snowfall traditionally boosts the local economy during the winter season. However, they also urged the authorities to ensure proper road maintenance and traffic management to avoid inconvenience.
Officials said that if weather conditions remain favourable, tourist activity is expected to continue in the coming days, further enhancing Kalam’s appeal as a prime winter tourism destination.
