MINGORA: The five-day Snow Festival was celebrated in the picturesque Kalam area in collaboration with Ezro Lagoon Resort, the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) and the Department of Tourism.
An assortment of winter sports and recreational activities, such as snow hiking, tug of war, ice skating, snow Kabaddi, and snowman-making competitions, are among the winter activities in the festival. These happenings are set to attract visitors and at the same time, winter tourism is going to be promoted in the area.
An exhilarating snow kabaddi match was played between the Ezor Nest Osho team and the Ezro Lagoon Floats team on the first day. After a very close contest, the Ezor Nest Osho team was declared the winner by the last point, receiving loud applause from the audience.
During the event, USDA spokesperson Saeed ur Rehman asserted that such activities are very important for winter season tourism. He then went on to say that carrying out winter tourism activities is one of the foremost priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department and Upper Swat Development Authority.
“Not only do these activities support the local economy, but they also stimulate the curiosity of both domestic and international tourists,” he said.

Snowfall blanket upper Swat as winter spell returns
Snowfall of the winter season has blanketed the mountains of Swat’s upper regions transforming tourists spots into stunning winter landscapes.
The plains of Swat continue to experience rainfall. Light snowfall in the Kalam mountains has brought a noticeable drop in temperature.
A new spell of weather has set in across Upper Swat, bringing rainfall to the plains while higher tourist destinations are witnessing snowfall.
The mountains have been covered in a blanket of snow, transforming the landscape into a scenic winter view.
The fresh snowfall has attracted tourists to the Kalam valley, where visitors are arriving to witness and enjoy the snowy conditions.
Meanwhile, in Swabi, dark clouds have brought widespread darkness and heavy rain accompanied by hail in many parts of Razar tehsil, resulting in a sharp decrease in temperature.
