PESHAWAR: The winter season has made its presence felt in full force across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir with heavy rains and snowfall leading to freezing temperatures in several areas

The northern parts of the province such as Chitral, Kalam, Mahodand, and Malam Jabba are undergoing considerable snowfall, and the roads and the whole area are now covered with white fluff. For the time being, this scenario has attracted many people, as it has turned the place into a dreamy winter landscape, but the cold has a negative vibe to say the least.

Rainfall has not only made the already cold days and nights in Peshawar, Hangu, and Charsadda milder but also more unpleasant. Thus, the inhabitants of these places are heavily clad due to the dropping temperatures and the rain-induced lower temperatures.

In Neelum Valley, the lower areas are seeing rainy days, while the upper areas are having an occasional snow cover. The people are complaining that the cold is no longer bearable and that it might be the next few days that both locals and tourists will have to endure the winter.

On the other hand, Balochistan is receiving the long-awaited rains which are usually seen as the precursor to the winter season. The rainfall combined with wind has led to a considerable decrease of temperature in the whole province. The strong winds and heavy rains have so far forced the power in Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, and Toba Achakzai to be cut off as they have been able to bring down electricity poles, walls and trees.

According to the device of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the precipitation will continue to fall as snow for a few days. So, tourists are given the advice to be very careful and not to travel if it is not necessary. To add to it, the authorities have told the residents and visitors to prepare themselves for the cold that is going to last and come with high intensity.

The recommendation for taking more precautions, particularly in traveling, is given to the inhabitants of the areas with cold weather that have already been established. Slippery roads and low visibility may be the source of safety-related problems.
