PESHAWAR: The smog has reappeared with its usual intensity in many localities of Lahore and Peshawar, with the highest drop in air quality and health warnings for the residents were issued.
Lahore’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) hit a dangerous level of 209, with some areas going beyond that. To illustrate, Bhedian Road had a hazardous AQI level of 507, while Sanda Road measured 421, and Iqbal Town recorded an AQI level of 276.
Peshawar was also severely afflicted although not to Lahore’s extent. The average AQI was also 209 for Peshawar, with local hotspots further indicating unacceptable levels of air quality. For example, Abasin University AQI was 264, Ashrafia Colony measured 237, Dallah Zak Road as recorded at 229, and Small Industries Hayatabad was at 212. Workers Welfare Board office AQI was 209 too.

Experts have expressed preventive concern when it comes to what could worsen the public health situation even more, if people continue to have any associated respiratory problems for any extended period of time.
