PESHAWAR: The Home Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has expressed concerns about the slow repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals and has ordered police to accelerate the operation.
The Home Department condemned the measures against unlawful Afghan inhabitants in the province and instructed the police to promptly act against those residing in rented accommodations. Officials stated that Afghan refugee camps have imposed a strain on the provincial government, which has resolved to gradually close them because of rising costs.
The department also mentioned that complete information on Afghan nationals has been shared with district police officers. After the data is gathered, the appropriate authorities are expected to take measures.
The repatriation process of illegal Afghan nationals across the province has been extremely slow, prompting the KP Home Department to instruct all agencies to take immediate and effective measures.
No compromise on repatriation of Afghan refugees: Mohsin Naqvi
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said there will be no compromise on the repatriation of Afghan refugee and they will return to their own country at any cast as security the local population is the top priority.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Afghan refugee camps are still in place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but steps are being taken to dismantle them. Talking to the media in Lahore, he said that the camps in Nowshera and Khyber have been de-notified, but they are not yet fully operational.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Afghans were involved in the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and the relevant SHOs have been tasked with searching for the Afghans involved in this incident.
He stressed that it is imperative to send Afghan refugees back in any case to ensure the security of the country.
