Police encounter key suspect in Doctor Warda case

Meanwhile, in a significant development in the high-profile murder case of Dr Warda Mushtaq, police have killed Shamrez, a most-wanted fugitive suspect, during an encounter near Thandiani on Sunday evening, as confirmed by police sources.

The operation took place in the Thandiani–Kundla area and was a targeted raid against armed suspects. During the confrontation, Shamrez was killed on the spot while resisting arrest. Authorities described him as a dangerous criminal who had been evading capture since the brutal abduction and murder of Dr Warda earlier this month.

Dr Warda, a medical officer at DHQ Hospital Abbottabad, was abducted and later murdered in circumstances that provoked widespread outrage across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The case sparked protests from the medical community and civil society, demanding swift arrests and justice for the slain doctor.

More details have emerged regarding the business interests of Waheed, the husband of the prime suspect Rida, as investigations continue into the murder of Lady Dr Warda Mushtaq in Abbottabad. Sources confirmed to Pakhtun Digital on Sunday.

According to sources, the district administration of Abbottabad has recently sealed five shops linked to Waheed, containing merchandise worth crores of rupees. More than 100 employees were working at these outlets, with monthly salaries exceeding Rs2 million.

Source said the combined monthly electricity and utility bills of the shops were reported to be over Rs500,000, while the minimum monthly income from the businesses was estimated at more than Rs20 million.

Sources said Waheed and his family own multiple properties in Abbottabad city, including banglaws, plazas and shops, collectively valued at crores. He is reportedly involved in a vast clothing business.

Investigators have also indicated alleged tax irregularities in the suspect spouse’s business.

Sources said Waheed declared a low income to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) despite the scale of his business.
