Despite the court’s permission, immigration authorities barred Sheikh Rashid from traveling abroad to perform Umrah.

‎According to the details, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was stopped from traveling abroad for Umrah. He arrived at Islamabad Airport on Wednesday (today) to depart for Umrah.

‎Talking to the media at the airport, Sheikh Rashid said that the court had given him special permission to go for Umrah, but despite this, the immigration authorities stopped him. He said that he would file a contempt of court petition against this move.

‎It should be noted that a few days ago, the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench had allowed Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to travel abroad. During the hearing, his lawyer Sardar Abdul Raziq had taken the stand that despite the court’s order, Sheikh Rashid’s name was re-included in the Passport Control List (PCL) and PNIL after being removed from the Exit Control List (ECL).

‎The lawyer had told the court that the constitution gives every citizen the fundamental right to travel abroad and move freely. On the other hand, according to the FIA, Sheikh Rashid’s name was included in the Passport Control List on the order of the Anti-Terrorism Court.

‎The court’s learned judge Justice Sadaqat Ali had said in his remarks that “Sheikh Rashid should be allowed to go for Umrah, if he prays, the situation in the country will improve.”
