In a national address on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced his decision to reject a proposed price hike for petrol and high-speed diesel.

The Premier opened his speech by conveying Eid greetings to the nation, emphasising that current circumstances call for a spirit of humanity, national cohesion, and a sense of collective responsibility.

“It is my belief,” he stated, “that the true essence of Eid lies in sharing its joy with those who are in need.”

According to the Premier, the world is currently grappling with “unprecedented challenges,” and he emphasized that the only path to overcoming this crisis lies in embracing the values of selflessness, hard work, and compassion.

He stated that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has had a profound and detrimental effect on both global peace and the international economy, ultimately impacting the average citizen. This situation, he added, has escalated into an even more precarious state following the attacks on the energy installations of brotherly nations.

He further warned that the danger of this crisis both intensifying and dragging on is escalating with each passing moment.
