BRISBANE: Shaheen Shah Afridi’s first appearance in the Big Bash League (BBL) did not proceed as expected as the prominent bowler was taken off mid-over by the umpire. The cause behind this action has now been disclosed.

Playing for the Brisbane Heat, Shaheen made his appearance but struggled, giving away 43 runs in only 2.4 overs and failing to claim any wickets.

The pivotal moment occurred in Shaheen’s over when he delivered two beamers prompting the umpire to intervene and stop his bowling. Beamers, which are full tosses constitute a severe violation of the rules and result in prompt action, from the umpires.

In‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ a similarly unfortunate development, Rizwan Mohammad, the highly talented batsman of Pakistan, also failed to light up his debut in a memorable way. Representing the Melbourne Renegades, Rizwan scored a solitary 4 runs from 10 balls and thus was ineffective in the match he was making his ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌debut.

Mohammad Rizwan eyes glory in Big Bash League

‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌The Pakistan cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, has shared his excitement and at the same time stated his vision that he wishes to be the top player in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Rizwan, who is part of Melbourne Renegades, expressed that the BBL is a great opportunity for him to show his talent in the country of kangaroos.” If you do good in Australia, then you get to know everywhere very soon,” he said. Besides, he also mentioned that his visibility increased after the series in 2019 so he is now more than ever looking forward to the WBBL.

Rizwan credited a big part of Australia’s victory to the bold and daring mentality that they had. He even went as far as to say that he loves the hard conditions in Australia as they are a test for both batters and bowlers. “The conditions there suit me perfectly because they are challenging for both sides,” was Rizwan’s remark.

In a narrative mood, Rizwan spoke of how his innings in Australia had been responsible for the change of his career. His dislike of the Australian players was rooted in their practice of minding only their game and not getting involved in the others.

He recounted that during training, Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi had a competitive relationship that was good for both, he said, “Shaheen comes to me and I fight back.”. I aim for boundaries off him and he tries to get me out. It’s all about giving me the best performance,” he ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌said.
