PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has said that the provincial government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have consistently expressed serious concerns regarding the health of the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan. However, he said, the “fake federal government” continued to issue false statements about his health in an attempt to mislead the public.

In a statement issued here, Shafi Jan said the federal government secretly shifted the founding chairman, Imran Khan, to PIMS Hospital, adding that the recent admission by Federal Minister Atta Tarar is, in fact, a charge sheet against the federal government itself, exposing all its lies.

He said that despite serious concerns about Imran Khan’s health, access to his personal physician is being denied, which is a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. He added that although the founding chairman was moved to a hospital, his family members and lawyers were deliberately kept uninformed, which is evidence of criminal negligence on the part of the federal and Punjab governments and the jail administration, and is strongly condemned.

The Special Assistant made it clear that if the “fake federal government” does not immediately allow access to Imran Khan’s personal physician, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will decide a tough course of action. He said the federal government has trampled the Constitution and the law, while clear court orders regarding meetings with Imran Khan have also been blatantly ignored.

Shafi Jan said that the insensitivity shown by the federal government in the matter of a former prime minister and a popular national leader is extremely unfortunate. He added that the corrupt clique forcibly imposed at the federal and Punjab levels should not be blinded by political revenge.

He further stated that Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, came to Adiala Jail on Thursday to meet the founding chairman, Imran Khan, but was not allowed to do so. He said that illegal restrictions have been imposed on meetings with Imran Khan, which constitute a clear violation of court orders, the Constitution, democratic values, and fundamental human rights.

Shafi Jan added that this is the fear of Imran Khan and CM Sohail Afridi , that whenever they come to Adiala, a curfew-like situation is imposed.

He said they will not leave until Imran Khan is allowed to meet his personal physician, and that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with members of the National and Provincial Assemblies and senators of the party, will remain peacefully present outside Adiala Jail.

He further stated that despite keeping Imran Khan imprisoned in false cases, the corrupt clique remains fearful of his public popularity. He added that Imran Khan’s politics revolve around public welfare, strengthening democracy, and economic sovereignty, whereas the current federal government is entirely focused on political revenge instead of providing relief to the people.

Criticising the Punjab government, Shafi Jan said the health sector in Punjab has reached the brink of collapse, and that the report of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team itself stands as a clear charge sheet against the Punjab government.
