PESHAWAR: Several parts of the M1 Motorway have been closed off to traffic as a result of heavy fog and no visibility in certain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The M1 parts from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Rashkai and from Swabi to Bhuran have been closed as the visibility has dropped to such a point that it is unsafe. This decision is aimed at preventing any accidents that could happen and is also for the safety of the travellers.

Motorists have been asked by the police to keep their fog lights on during this time and also not to make trips that are not absolutely necessary. Moreover, they have recommended that a safe distance should be maintained between the vehicles on the road and also that the speed of driving should be controlled.

The highway help line number 130 can be called by travellers for the latest information on the road conditions. The police mentioned that the main motive of this measure was to protect lives and avoid fatal accidents in these very challenging scenarios.

Motorway police units are now deployed in the impacted locations, carefully watching the situation. The authorities have declared that the closing of the roads will continue until the fog lifts and the visibility gets better.

The city of Peshawar and its neighbouring regions have been going through a very thick fog that seems to be unusually dense affecting the day-to-day life of the people and consequently producing interruptions in the local traffic.

In order to get the latest news, the travellers are advised to keep an eye on the official social media accounts of the Motorway Police on Facebook and Twitter.
