KOHAT: Seven people were killed and one was injured in a mudslide in Kohat on Wednesday after being trapped under debris following a landslide.

Bilal Ahmad Faizi, Spokesperson for Rescue 1122, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, told Pakhtun Digital that the Rescue 1122 Kohat team has completed a search and rescue operation following a landslide in Kohat, recovering seven bodies and rescuing one injured person from under the debris, officials said.

According to Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, more than 30 rescue personnel took part in the operation, assisted by three ambulances and a disaster response vehicle. The injured person was provided medical assistance on the spot.

Mr Faizi said that six bodies had initially been recovered during the operation, while efforts were underway to trace another person still believed to be trapped under the rubble. Later updates confirmed that a total of seven bodies had been retrieved.

The deceased were identified as Talat, son of Vakil; Fayyaz, son of Riaz; Abid, son of Parvez; Daniyal, son of Zafar Ali; Sabir son of Iqbal; and Faraz, son of Farzand Ali. Riyaz Ali Khan, also known as God, son of Itabar Khan, sustained injuries in the incident.

He added that Faizan, son of Haji Rehman, remained missing and that search operations were continuing to recover him.

Rescue officials said the operation was being carried out with caution due to the unstable condition of the debris, while local authorities were monitoring the situation.
