ISLAMABAD: The senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party and Senator Irfan Siddiqui died after suffering from respiratory complications. For more than two weeks he was hospitalized in a private hospital in Islamabad which was his place of treatment.

The senator was the leader of PML-N in the Senate and was a trusted man for party leader Nawaz Sharif. Siddiqui was also an advisor on national history and literature for a long time.

President, Prime Minister, Interior Minister, and federal ministers, as well as political leaders of PML-N, have all expressed deep regret over his death and people like Nawaz Sharif said that the passing of such a giant leaves a huge gap in the political arena of Pakistan.

Unverified information indicated that Senator Siddiqui was put into the hospital because of his health condition which was deteriorating and doctors later confirmed that he was on a ventilator.

The veteran politician commanded wide respect because of his parliamentary service, intellectual contributions, and his long-time loyalty to PML-N and national affairs.

President Zardari pays tribute to late Senator Irfan Siddiqui

President​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Asif Ali Zardari gave out a statement deeply lamenting and mourning the death of the leader of the opposition PML-N Irfan Siddiqui in the parliament.

In his statement, Zardari wrote that he was sharing the pain of loss with the family of Irfan Siddiqui and sending prayers to the departed soul

The President went on to say that the late Senator Irfan Siddiqui actively participated in the promotion and consolidation of democracy in Pakistan by making it his mission to engage in democratic processes.

He sent his prayers to the departed soul for the peace that lasts forever and to the family for the strength and patience to go through the difficult times that come with such an immense ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌loss.

Maryam Nawaz mourns death of senior PML-N leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui

Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif felt sorry for the death of the senior PML-N leader and Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

Maryam Nawaz, through her condolence message, portrayed Irfan Siddiqui as a flower of the brilliant political inheritance and made the observation that Pakistan’s politics had lost an honorable and ethical man. She prayed to God to bestow the dead Irfan Siddiqui the highest rank in heaven and to the grieving family to grant them the strength to cope with this huge loss.

“Irfan Siddiqui, may he rest in peace, was among the dignified and decent individuals, especially in politics, and history will recognize his name,” Maryam Nawaz said.

According to family sources, Senator Irfan Siddiqui was facing respiratory difficulties for the past two weeks and was taken to a private hospital in Islamabad where he died.

Senator Siddiqui was the PML-N Parliamentary Leader in the Senate and was suspected to be one of the closest collaborators of party head Nawaz ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌Sharif.
