ISLAMABAD: Senator Afnanullah, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has emphasized that all political parties in Pakistan are united in their condemnation of the Afghan Taliban’s recent attacks. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has also condemned these assaults, showing political consensus on the matter.

Senator Afnanullah, spoke about the recent Pak-Afghan border tensions during his appearance on the ARY News private television program. The Afghan Taliban used to deny their links with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan but now they accept TTP as their operational unit to conduct attacks. This confirms Pakistan’s long-held position that the TTP leadership is involved in orchestrating attacks inside Pakistan,” he stated.

The Afghan Taliban has escalated the situation by bringing the issue to the Durand Line through their declaration of revenge according to Senator Afnanullah. The issue exists because of a territorial dispute between the two parties, according to him, which allows Pakistan to respond forcefully to these offenses.

Pakistan has the right to respond with strong measures, according to the senator. The Afghan Taliban cannot take our land, but we are stronger, and we can take theirs. We will maintain our control over the Afghan posts which we seized from them. If the enemy maintains their current approach, we will proceed to capture more land, according to Senator Afnanullah.

In the same program, PTI MNA Humayun Mohmand, spoke on the larger geopolitical aspects of the situation. He revealed that he had heard an allegation by an Indian General who stated that India is fully backing the United States and Israel in their fight against Iran with the intention of achieving the Greater Israel Plan. The plan, according to the Indian General, is to take control of Pakistan from the north and the west through the Taliban, India from the east, and Iran from the southwest.

“Despite the world still considering the Afghan Taliban as a terrorist regime, India is openly aligning with them,” Mohmand stated, highlighting the growing Indian influence in the region.

The program also touched on the attitude of the current regime of Afghanistan, which believes that the interference by the Pakistani government is just another chapter in the history of Afghanistan, where every single force that has tried to invade the country has been defeated. “This might be somewhat true, but Pakistan is the country that created Afghanistan. When you create a country and share borders with it, you gain a strategic edge,” Mohmand stated.

Mohmand highlighted Pakistan’s military strength, pointing out that the country’s battle-hardened army is equipped with the latest technology. He noted that such a disparity in military power between neighbouring countries could pose significant difficulties for the weaker side, especially when one country is self-sufficient and the other is not.
