ISLAMABAD: In reaction to PTI’s plea for the Chairman of the Senate to be disqualified, Senator Saifullah Abro has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not oppose the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Abro stated that Aoun Abbas Bappi, a member of PTI, was not at any parliamentary meeting and no official letter was issued by the party concerning the matter.
He also pointed out that he was not handed any show-cause notice, nor was he issued any communication from PTI on this matter.
Saifullah Abro illustrated that the founder of PTI had suggested him for the position of Chairman of the Interior Committee, but some members of the party and government representatives had colluded to prevent him from getting the position.
Besides, he disclosed that the Chairman of the Senate, Sherry Rehman, and Azam Nazir Tarar, being already discontented with him in the Power Committee, had contributed to the process which resulted in him being removed from the Interior Committee.
Abro further said that the present party leadership is run based on social media, and he never got any communication from them.

PTI expels Senator Abro for backing 27th Amendment
Earlier, after Senator Saifullah Abro going against the party line and voting for the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to cut its relations with him.
PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the party had decided to expel the senator. He pointed out that the senator’s support for the amendment was a violation of the party line and that the party had taken disciplinary action against him.
“The post quoting Sheikh Waqas Akram said that the party cannot allow such violations of rules and that for the unity of the party, it is impolite that everyone strictly follows the party line,” read the post.
