ISLAMABAD: Car prices in Pakistan have increased significantly over the past few years, leading to noticeable changes in buyers’ preferences across the country.

A budget of about 5 million rupees used to be sufficient to buy new sedans. The budget now only allows for B-segment sedans and smaller crossover SUVs.

Pakistani families face a choice between two types of vehicles which include sedans that offer trunk space and comfortable seating and crossover SUVs which provide increased ground clearance and their durable vehicle design.

Auto experts state that both vehicle types present different benefits to customers which depend on their particular requirements and lifestyle choices.

SUVs provide greater ground clearance together with big vehicle interiors, which people use for extended travel.

Sedans provide superior fuel efficiency, easier vehicle operation and better environmentally friendly driving. People choose sedans because they travel short distances, while long-distance travellers and rough-road drivers prefer crossovers and SUVs.

In the used car segment, the demand for hybrid cars, particularly the 2015-2016 models of Honda Vezel, remains high, as customers can buy this model within the budget of 5 million rupees due to its fuel efficiency.

Similarly, the 2020 model of Kia Sportage Alpha and the 2019 model of Toyota Raize used cars are also available in the same budget.

The Toyota Yaris 1.3 GLI CVT model remains a popular new car purchase due to its excellent resale value. The Honda City 1.2 CVT model enjoys popularity as the trunk space of this model is more than other cars, while the interior parts of this model are of better quality.

The Changan Alsvin Lumiere 1.5 model has gained more popularity as this model provides additional features, including a sunroof, cruise control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Experts suggest that buyers of cars should not only consider the purchase price of the car but also other aspects. The decision-making process requires evaluation of multiple factors which include fuel economy and maintenance costs, ground clearance, safety features and resale value.

The current economic situation prevents auto analysts from identifying any vehicle that fulfils all the requirements of a 5-million-rupee budget.

Buyers can discover a dependable family vehicle within this price range through careful evaluation of their family requirements, driving patterns and financial plan.
