ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued directives to enhance the security of key oil depots, refineries, and petroleum infrastructure throughout the country.

A letter from the Ministry of Interior stated that due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Gulf region and potential disruptions in the global oil supply chain, the Pakistani government is closely monitoring the availability of petroleum products.

In this context, ensuring the protection and uninterrupted operation of the nation’s critical petroleum infrastructure has become a matter of national importance.

The letter emphasised that oil depots, storage terminals, refineries, pipeline installations, and distribution centres, whether operated by the government or oil marketing companies, are essential to the country’s economy. They play a vital role in supplying fuel for transportation, power generation, aviation, and various industries.

All provinces have been instructed to immediately implement comprehensive security measures in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and district administrations. Special attention should be given to large oil depots, refineries, pipeline pumping stations, LPG storage and filling plants, and aviation fuel storage facilities.
