KHARAN: Security forces executed a speedy and well-planned operation that led to the thwarting of a terrorist attack in Kharan district of Balochistan and the killing of 12 militants while three others arrested.
As stated by the security, the operation resulted in the apprehension of three main terrorists, one of whom is said to be a priority target. The officials indicated that around 38 to 40 terrorists were engaged in the onslaught, a major portion of whom were supposed to be foreigners, especially militants from Afghanistan.
During the operation, there were considerable exchanges of fire between the security forces and the terrorists. The total number of 12 terrorists killed included some who had tried to escape after the first fight. Five security personnel were injured in the operation; however, no casualties have been reported among the troops.
The operation of search and clearance has begun and is ongoing in the area. The authorities made it clear that the operation will not stop until all the remaining terrorist elements are completely wiped out from the area.
