Security forces have killed a dangerous militant during a major operation in the Sheikh Khula area of Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The alleged terrorist who was killed was not only involved in armed activities but was also known to promote extremism on social media.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out on Monday based on intelligence information. An exchange of fire took place between the forces and the armed man, resulting in the killing of the said militant. He was wanted in several incidents of unrest, extortion, and terrorism in the area.
A special feature of this terrorist was his unusual activity on social media. He had created an account on TikTok under the name “Digital Terrorist,” where he used to advertise his operations. According to the report, he had threatened Inam Gurbi, the leader of the ‘Batani Tehreek’ in Lakki Marwat, with a suicide attack and was spreading fear and panic among the locals.
A few hours before his death, on Sunday night, he had uploaded a video on his account, in which he accused the local population of spying on him. The residents of the area have appreciated this action of the security forces, as the said person was not only a threat to the state but was also harassing the common citizens. The security forces have completed the search operation in the area and declared the area safe.
Earlier to this Six terrorists were killed during a high-stakes intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat district, officials confirmed on Friday.
Acting on credible information regarding the presence of militants, the CTD Bannu Region’s Swat team moved to cordone off the area. Upon sighting the security forces, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle that lasted approximately 40 minutes.
Following the intense exchange of fire, security forces conducted a search and clearance operation, discovering the bodies of six terrorists. Several other militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness, prompting a follow-up pursuit operation in the surrounding areas. The process of identifying the slain terrorists is currently underway.
A significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the scene, including four Kalashnikov rifles, two pistols, eight hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device (IED). Magazines, cartridges, and other tactical equipment were also seized.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Additional IG CTD commended the SWAT team for the successful operation. “We will chase terrorists to their safe havens and bring them to justice,” the IG Police stated, adding that the “blood of martyrs will not go in vain” as the department remains committed to defeating the enemies of peace.
