THAL: Security forces killed five terrorists when they foiled an attempt at infiltration in Wachapala and surrounding areas near the Pak-Afghan border while injuring several others.

According to security sources, the movement and escape attempt of a group of terrorists was detected in the Thal South area under the control of 9 Division. Following the tip-off information team launched an immediate counter-operation.

On February 8, a major search operation was conducted to sanitize the area from terrorists, in which 90 personnel (45 Pak Army and 45 SOG) participated. The forces have completely cleared the empty spaces behind Wachapala and the International Border (IB).

During the operation, five terrorists have been killed so far during the operation, of which three bodies have been taken into custody, while five terrorists were injured in the exchange of fire. A damaged SMG, 3 magazines, two hand grenades, over 100 bullets, and a large quantity of Pakistani and Afghan currency were recovered during the search near Wachapala.

Security forces have also recovered other items used by the terrorists from the scene, including painkillers (injections), dry fruits, p, perfume, and clothes. Security officials said that no more traces of terrorists have been found in Wachapala and its surrounding areas, and the area has been completely secured. Security forces are on high alert to eliminate illegal cross-border movement and terrorism.
